The League of Independent Theater exists to promote the artistic and economic interests of theater professionals working in New York City in theaters of up to 99 seats.
The League is a 100% volunteer-led organization, and we need you to help us fight for the community.
Membership to the League of Independent Theater is 100% free - no sign up fee, no dues, and includes our newsletter, which will keep you abreast of all the latest activities, political moves, and fun events.
Types of Membership
Artist/Professional: any individual who has participated in any role of the cast or crew of 3 or more stage productions in theaters of up to 99 seats in New York City.
Company/Venue: any organization or venue that has produced or presented 3 or more stage productions in theaters of up to 99 seats in New York City and has an annual operating budget of less than $5 million; or any theater service organization that primarily supports companies and artists working in theaters of up to 99 seats in New York City.
We encourage our companies and venues to enlist their individual members to join as Artists/Professionals.
Affiliate: Any theater or organization that does not meet the 99 seat or less criteria, but shares the spirit and vision of the League.
Supporter: any individual who has participated as an audience member, director of a board, box office staff, front-of-house staff, usher, or other types of personnel in 3 or more stage productions in theaters of up to 99 seats in New York City.
Student: any individual who has participated as a producer, writer, director, designer or member of the cast or crew in 3 or more student-produced stage productions in theaters of up to 99 seats in New York City.
